Testing and Therapy Externships
The Goode Practice is proud to provide training experiences for doctoral students in psychology who wish to enhance their competence and share our passion for providing culturally responsive care to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clients.
Testing
We offer a competitive compensation for doctoral students interested in administering and scoring psychological assessments for comprehensive evaluations. Testing externs will receive supervision and oversight from postdoctoral fellows and a licensed psychologist.
Therapy
We offer a therapy externship for advanced doctoral students in clinical and counseling psychology to provide psychotherapy to adult clients. Therapy sessions will be recorded, providing externs the opportunity to receive focused supervision to improve their clinical skill and better understand interpersonal dynamics in the therapeutic relationship. Externs will also enhance their skills by continually monitoring treatment outcomes and progress through formal and informal assessment measures to ensure they are providing clients with the highest quality of care.
Potential externs should:
Have appreciation for and experience with the unique needs of marginalized clients of color
Be interested in expanding social justice and decolonization practices into case conceptualization skills
Be intellectually curious, open, and committed to learning about the nuances of work in private practice
Be committed to discussing issues of identity, privilege, and oppression in the context of their work with clients and in supervision
Demonstrate ability to work both independently and under supervision
